EXIN

Since 1957, the British company Tri-ang, a subsidiary of Lines Bros, was the manufacturer and distributor of Scalextric, a product of great popularity in the United Kingdom. To enter Spain and due to the limitations on importing foreign products during the Franco dictatorship era, they signed an agreement with Exin to market their products in the country. Exin was a Catalan company founded in Barcelona that was dedicated to manufacturing plastic utensils and toys, and over time became specialized in the latter activity. The presentation of the electric scale car system (Scalextric) took place in 1962 at the Barcelona Trade Fair. The first fully Spanish model, a Seat 600 TC, was marketed in 1966. In subsequent years, technical innovations were introduced in the models such as four-wheel drive by belt (1984), functional lights and a new compact motor (1985), or four-wheel drive with a dual-shaft motor (1988). Over time, Exin began exporting its models outside of Spain under the SCX brand, but shortly after in 1993 it closed due to economic losses.
