Sunbeam Lotus

In 2025, SCX released this new version of the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus under reference U10553S300. The model featured rear-wheel drive, front and rear LED lights, and a guide blade with twin braids and automatic return. Finished in white, blue and red, it carried the “JOCAVI/TALBOT/DUCADOS” livery, race number #1, and the names of A. Zanini and J. Sabater on the sides. For this model, SCX based its reproduction on the car that competed in the 4th Rallye Sachs-Bilbao in 1981.

The Talbot Sunbeam Lotus was a small three-door saloon/hatchback with a front-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive. Lotus fitted it with a 2,174 cc, 16-valve four-cylinder engine derived from the Type 911, coupled to a five-speed gearbox. The road car produced around 150 hp, while the rally versions developed approximately 245-250 hp. It was one of the great rally cars of the early 1980s and played a decisive role in helping Talbot win the 1981 World Rally Championship for Manufacturers. Antonio Zanini and Jordi Sabater drove this Talbot Zanini Racing/Talbot España Sunbeam Lotus to victory in the Rallye Sachs-Bilbao, held from 31 October to 1 November 1981. They won with a time of 2 h 34 min 17 s. Zanini finished that year’s Spanish Rally Championship in fourth position. SCX based its U10553S300 model on this car.
