The BMW M3 E30, introduced in 1985, was developed by BMW Motorsport to homologate a car for Group A touring car racing. It featured a naturally aspirated 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive. The road version initially produced 197 hp, while competition S14 engines could reach 296 hp at approximately 8,000 rpm. Prodrive adapted it for rallying and began competing with it in 1987. That year, Bernard Béguin and Jean-Jacques Lenne won the Tour de Corse in a BMW M3 E30 entered by the Rothmans BMW Motul team, their most notable World Rally Championship result. Altaya reproduced this car in its “Rally Míticos” collection, replacing the tobacco brand with “RACING” in the livery.
