Commercialisation year2001
In 2001, Altaya launched the “Coches Míticos” collection, featuring cars manufactured in China by Tecnitoys using, according to the promotional leaflets, Exin’s original moulds. The collection comprised 48 instalments, published between September 2001 and August 2002. It was subsequently reissued around 2004. The Lancia Stratos is a new version of the model that Exin released in 1974, this time featuring “ALITALIA” livery, race number 1 and the names S. Munari and S. Maiga on the doors, inspired by the winning car from the 1977 Monte Carlo Rally. Like the Exin model, it has no lights and is fitted with an RX-4 motor driving the rear wheels.

The Lancia Stratos HF was developed specifically for rallying. It featured a mid-mounted 2.4-litre V6 engine derived from the Ferrari Dino and rear-wheel drive. It was homologated in Group 4 in 1974. In 1977, Sandro Munari and Silvio Maiga won the Monte Carlo Rally in a Lancia Stratos HF entered by the Lancia Alitalia team. It marked Munari’s fourth Monte Carlo victory and the third for a Lancia Stratos. Altaya reproduced this real car in its “Coches Míticos” collection.
