The Renault 4 (4L) was an exceptionally robust and lightweight economy car, with front-wheel drive and long-travel suspension, which gave it surprising effectiveness on snow and rough roads. In 1965, the «4 elles» — a French pun meaning both "4 L's" and "4 she's" — 4 young women, Michèle Ray, 26 years old, model, journalist and later actress, accompanied by Éliane Lucotte, Betty Gérard and Martine Libersart, began to plan a great adventure at a crucial moment of social change. They would cover 40,000 km from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska in two Renault 4Ls, with the support of Elle magazine. Fábrica de Juguetes reproduced one of these Renaults in its A10221S300 model.
