In 1979, Fábrica de Juguetes launched this new version of the Renault 5 Turbo. This model with reference A10198S300 came with rear-wheel drive, front and rear LED lights and a guide with automatic return system. In yellow and red with a black roof and bonnet, it carries #598, the decal of the 7th Giro d'Italia on the doors and the names of the crew members Fréquelin and Andrié, one on each side of the nose. The model is a reproduction of the real car that raced in the Giro in 1979.

The Renault 5 Turbo made its competitive debut at the Giro d'Italia automobilistico as a prototype ahead of its commercial launch. Driven by Guy Fréquelin and Jean-Marc Andrié, the car was entered as the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo and already featured the mid-mounted turbocharged engine configuration that would make the model famous. Although it retired from the event due to mechanical problems, its speed and revolutionary concept attracted a great deal of attention and anticipated the subsequent success of the R5 Turbo in the World Rally Championship. Fábrica de Juguetes was inspired by this car for their model reference A10198S300.
