In 2006, Colin McRae and Nicky Grist, at the wheel of a Subaru Impreza STi N12, finished in second place in the very first edition of the X Games Rally. American driver Travis Pastrana won the event following a famous duel with Colin McRae, who crashed at the final corner while leading the race. Tecnitoys based their model reference A10050S300 on McRae and Grist's car. The Subaru Impreza STi N12 was the Group N competition version developed by Subaru Tecnica International from the 2005-generation Subaru Impreza WRC. Based on the production Impreza WRX STI, it retained the full four-wheel drive system and the 2-litre turbocharged boxer engine, but adapted to FIA regulations for production-derived cars. It was used primarily in rally championships by private teams and in the PWRC (Production World Rally Championship) between 2005 and 2007.
