In 2001, Tecnitoys marketed three different versions of the Peugeot 206. Two individual models with references 6064 and 6068, and another one with a mud effect identical to reference model 6064 that came in the Copa circuit set together with reference model 6051 from the previous year. This reference model 8048A, exclusive to circuit sets, is exactly the same as reference model 6064, but with a mud effect. In silver grey, #10 with "ESSO" livery, it bears the Network Q Rally decal and the names of M.Gronholm and T.Rautiainen on the rear windows, and is a replica of the real car that competed in that rally in 2000.

The Peugeot 206 represented the transition from front-wheel drive cars like the 306 Maxi to an authentic World Rally Car with four-wheel drive and a 2-litre turbo engine producing around 300 HP. Compact, agile and technologically advanced, it introduced active differentials and carefully studied aerodynamics, marking a radical leap from its predecessors and becoming a world champion car already in 2000, driven by Gronholm and Rautiainen. In the 2000 Network Q Rally of Great Britain, both crew members at the wheel of a Peugeot 206 WRC from the Peugeot Esso team achieved second place. Tecnitoys replicated that car for its reference models 6064 and 8048A.
