The Fiat 124 Spider Abarth was the rally version developed by Abarth from the standard 124 Spider, homologated in Group 4 in the early 1970s. It was fitted with a 1.8-litre four-cylinder twin-cam engine producing around 170–180 bhp, with rear-wheel drive, a five-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. It stood out for its lightness, good balance and reliability on tarmac. It was one of the standout cars in European rallying, winning the European Rally Championship in 1972 and 1975. In 1973, Raffaele Pinto and Arnaldo Bernacchini finished third in the 42nd Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo driving a Fiat 124 Abarth. Tecnitoys reproduced this car in their reference 6486.
