The Fiat 124 Spider Abarth was the rally version developed by Abarth from the standard 124 Spider and homologated in Group 4 in the early 1970s. It featured a 1.8-liter four-cylinder dual overhead cam engine that produced around 170–180 horsepower, with rear-wheel drive, a five-speed gearbox, and a self-locking differential. It stood out for its lightness, good balance, and reliability on asphalt. It was one of the great protagonists of European rallying, winning the European Rally Championship in 1972 and 1975. In 2006 this Fiat 124 Spider Abarth reproduced by Tecnitoys with reference 6377 and #79 competed in the Rally Elba Storico, bearing the names of veteran Italian drivers Parrini and de Toffoli on the bodywork, but was actually driven by the Swiss drivers Giuseppe Girardo and Massimiliano Girardo who finished in 22nd position.
