The Citroën Xsara WRC debuted in 2001 as the first rally car developed entirely by Citroën Sport for the World Rally Championship. Equipped with a 2.0 turbo engine, all-wheel drive, and sequential gearbox, it stood out for its balance and reliability. Throughout the following years, it evolved in aerodynamics, suspension, and transmission, reaching its peak maturity between 2003 and 2005, and adapting in 2006 to regulatory changes without losing competitiveness, becoming one of the most successful WRC cars of its era. That year in 2006, Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena drove a Citroën Xsara WRC #1 for the Kronos Racing team in the Rallye Monte-Carlo and won the event with it, consolidating their path toward their third consecutive world title. The Kronos team was sponsored by the tobacco company "GAULOISES," which in rallies where tobacco advertising was not permitted used the "GO!!!!!!" decoration instead. Tecnitoys reproduced this actual car in its model reference 6231.
