The Peugeot 307 WRC, making its debut in 2004, was conceived as the evolution of the 206 WRC, with a larger body, longer wheelbase, and better stability on fast sections. Its aerodynamics and suspensions were redesigned to improve overall performance, although it initially suffered from reliability issues that the 206 did not have. Marcus Grönholm and Timo Rautiainen at the controls of a Peugeot 307 WRC from the Marlboro Peugeot Total team participated in the 24th CTI Movil Rally Argentina 2004, having to retire due to an accident. This car served as inspiration for Tecnitoys' model 6161, which was a reproduction omitting the Marlboro logos.
