In 2001, Tecnitoys released three different versions of the Peugeot 206: two individually sold models under references 6064 and 6068, and another version with a mud effect, otherwise identical to reference 6064, supplied in the Copa race set alongside the previous year’s model reference 6051. This model, reference 6068, is finished in silver grey, with race number 1 and “TOTAL” livery. It carries a Monte Carlo Rally decal and the names M. Gronholm and T. Rautianen on the rear side windows, reproducing the real car that contested the event in 2001.

The Peugeot 206 marked the transition from front-wheel-drive cars such as the 306 Maxi to a full World Rally Car with four-wheel drive and a two-litre turbocharged engine producing approximately 296 hp. Compact, agile and technologically advanced, it featured active differentials and carefully developed aerodynamics, representing a radical step forward from its predecessors. By 2000, it had already become a world championship-winning car with Grönholm and Rautiainen. At the 2001 Monte Carlo Rally, the pair retired on SS3 in a Peugeot 206 WRC following a water pump failure. Tecnitoys reproduced that car for its model reference 6068.
