In 1997 Toyota launched the Corolla WRC to replace the Celica GT-Four ST205, adapting to the new World Rally Car regulations. Shorter, more agile and with better weight distribution, it debuted at the Rally Finland and soon demonstrated great competitiveness. Yoshio Fujimoto and Tony Sircombe won the 1998 Petronas Rally Malaysia driving a Toyota Corolla WRC with #1 and "TEIN" livery. This car was replicated almost exactly by Tecnitoys with their model reference 6034.
