1999 was a year of innovations for Tecnitoys, including the Ford Focus in two versions with references 6026 and 6027, latter this year a new version with reference 6901b was included in a “pack challenge”.All them came with front and rear lights with optical transmission, four-wheel drive via a dual-axle motor, and a tilting guide. This model with reference 6026 in white, #7, comes with the names Mc Rae/Grist on the rear windows and decals from the Rally Catalunya-Costa Brava. On the box and catalogues it appears as "Montecarlo 99", but in reality the model is inspired by the one that ran in the Rally Catalunya Costa-Brava, although Tecnitoys avoided the "Martini" alcoholic beverage brand and added a white front light pod.

Designed by Ford Motorsport and M-Sport to debut in the 1999 WRC, the Focus WRC replaced the Escort and stood out for its agility and rigidity. Despite initial reliability issues, McRae achieved victories with it in Portugal and the Safari that same year. Colin McRae and his co-driver Nicky Grist participated in the 1999 Rally Catalunya-Costa Brava at the wheel of a Ford Focus from the Ford Motor Co. Ltd team, although they had to retire from the event. This car served as the model for Tecnitoys reference 6026, although it introduced small changes such as removing the "Martini" brand and adding a a white front light pod.
