In 1988 Exin marketed a new model of the Lancia 037, #12 with "R6 International" livery, in two versions: one with lights and reference 4085, and another without lights reference 4086. In previous years Exin had already marketed several versions of the Lancia 037. This 4085 model came equipped with functional front lighting and mounted the closed-type RX-2 rear-wheel drive motor. From 1990, after a reference restructuring, the "R6" version was renumbered as Ref. 8317. On the sides of the bodywork it carries the names of the crew members (Zanussi/Cresto) and the Rally SanRemo 1983 decal. It represents an exact replica of the real car.

The Exin model is based on a real rally car, specifically the Lancia Rally 037 (Group B) that competed in the 1983 Sanremo Rally. That real car, entered with number 12, was driven by Italian Andrea Zanussi alongside co-driver Sergio Cresto under the Tre Gazzelle team (a semi-official structure linked to Jolly Club). At Sanremo 1983, Zanussi was making his World Championship debut with this car: he managed to run in surprising positions (4th-5th overall during the event) before suffering an accident that forced him to retire on stage 33.
