The STS (Super Track System) series, sometimes labeled as STS 4x4, was a total traction (4×4) system at 1:43 scale. It was clearly inspired by the adventures of the Paris-Dakar Rally, with off-road cars prepared to race on slot circuits. The main technical innovation was four-wheel drive, through an open Mabuchi motor with a double axle fixed diagonally to the chassis and which moved the crown gears of both wheel axles via helical worm pinions. The first cars in the series appeared in 1985. With reference 2201, Exin marketed a Mercedes Benz in four colors: dark blue, orange, red and white. This model in orange color #34, does not represent, either by its decoration or its number, any real model that participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally.
