Michélle Ray

Michèle Ray is a French model and journalist known in the motoring world for the expedition she undertook in 1965 alongside three other young women — Éliane Lucotte, Betty Gérard and Martine Libersart — at a time of social change and the search for new female role models. Under the name "les 4 elles" (a French pun), and with the support of Elle magazine, they covered nearly 40,000 km from Tierra del Fuego to Alaska aboard two Renault 4Ls. The adventure, carried out under very difficult conditions, combined exploration, endurance and a spirit of emancipation, making it one of the most remarkable all-women motoring expeditions of the 1960s.
