René Metge (Montrouge, France, 23 October 1941 – 3 January 2024) was a French driver and organiser particularly associated with rally raids. He won the Dakar Rally three times in the car category: in 1981 in a Range Rover alongside Bernard Giroux, in 1984 in a Porsche 911/953 with Dominique Lemoyne and in 1986 in a Porsche 959, again with Lemoyne. He also competed in several editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and won the Porsche 944 Turbo Cup in 1987.
After Thierry Sabine’s death, Metge took on management duties at the Dakar. He later focused on organising rally raids and was involved in projects including the Rallye d’Orient and the Africa Eco Race.
