Gérard Larrousse

Gérard Larrousse (Lyon, 1940) is a former French racing driver and motorsport executive whose career covered rallying, endurance racing, circuit competition and Formula One. He first made his name during the 1960s with Alpine and Porsche and won the 1969 Tour de Corse. He also finished second on the Monte Carlo Rally in 1969, 1970 and 1972.

On circuits he was French champion six times between 1969 and 1974. His greatest international successes came in endurance racing: he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1973 and 1974 alongside Henri Pescarolo, as well as taking victories at events including Sebring and Nürburgring. In 1974 he made a brief appearance as a Formula One driver.

After retiring in 1976 he moved into team management and became head of Renault Sport, working across its rally, endurance and Formula One programmes. He was later associated with Ligier and, together with Didier Calmels, created the Larrousse-Calmels team, which made its Formula One debut in 1987 and competed in the championship until 1994.
