Rod Hall
USA Rod Hall (1937–2019) was one of the great names in American off-road racing, particularly linked to the legendary desert races in Baja California. He is a historic figure of the Baja 1000, a race in which he competed for more than five consecutive decades. He won the Baja 1000 in 1969 and accumulated multiple class victories throughout his career. In the 2000s, he was closely associated with the Hummer brand, competing with specially prepared H3 versions in both Baja and the American Dakar. His approach was not so much pure speed as resistance and mechanical reliability—something very much in his style. In addition to being a driver, he was an entrepreneur and mechanic, founding Rod Hall Racing, a team through which he developed programs for young drivers and factory vehicles. Within the American desert racing world, he is considered a true legend, more for his consistency and competitive longevity than for marketing.
