François Chatriot

François Chatriot (born February 1, 1952 in France) is a retired French rally driver, particularly renowned in the national arena during the 1980s and early 1990s. He developed most of his motorsport career in the French Rally Championship, where he established himself as one of the era's leading figures thanks to a fast and highly consistent driving style. His most notable partnership was with co-driver Michel Périn, forming one of the most successful crews in modern French rallying. With Périn, he achieved remarkable dominance in the late 1980s, becoming French Rally Champion in 1988, 1989, and 1990, primarily driving Group A models such as the Renault 11 Turbo and later the Renault 21 Turbo. Concurrently, Chatriot participated in several rounds of the World Rally Championship (WRC), with notable performances in asphalt and mixed-surface rallies, though his career was clearly focused on the French national championship rather than a comprehensive world-level program.
