BIOGRAPHY

← Back to drivers

Arnaldo Bernacchini was an Italian rally co-driver active mainly during the 1970s, best known for his partnership with Italian driver Raffaele Pinto. He was part of the official Fiat Abarth teams during the period when the Italian manufacturer competed in the World Rally Championship. His greatest achievement came at the 1974 Rally of Portugal, where together with Pinto they claimed the overall victory behind the wheel of a Fiat 124 Abarth Rally, in one of the toughest editions of the event. Throughout those years, Bernacchini regularly took part in international WRC rounds and European rallies as part of Fiat's motorsport structure, standing out for his experience in long and gruelling rallies. Notably, the Bernacchini name remained linked to rallying decades later: his son, Giovanni Bernacchini, also became a co-driver and has competed in the World Rally Championship in the 21st century.
