Amilcare Ballestieri
Itàlia Amilcare Ballestrieri (17 September 1935 – 18 July 2023) was an Italian competitor who first achieved success in motorcycle racing and later in rallying. On two wheels he was a three-time Italian hill-climb champion from 1962 to 1964, the 175 cc junior champion in 1964 and winner of the Circuito di Ospedaletti in 1963 and 1964.
He moved into motor racing in the early 1970s. Ballestrieri won the 1972 Rallye Sanremo in a Lancia Fulvia HF when the event was part of the International Championship for Manufacturers, and became Italian rally champion in 1973. Between 1973 and 1977 he contested ten World Rally Championship events, with fifth place as his best result. In 1974 he achieved another major success by winning the Targa Florio alongside Gérard Larrousse in a Lancia Stratos HF, completing an unusual career marked by success on both two and four wheels.
